TV noise rollover cam effect

Step 1

I'd seen this on loads of sites, tried to find it but couldn't! so I set out on a mission to do it myself! u will see the effect in the menu on my cam :).  First off you need a noise animation that will go on the top, you can take one of these

You could just use the larger one and resize it, it just cuts down on loading time really! If your cam is bigger than the largest one you will need to make your own. This is simple.  Load Animation shop, make a new animation and fill the background black, go to Effects > Insert Image Effect... then choose noise and play about with the settings.  Then when you have made the noise go to Effects > Apply Image Effect and choose scratches :)

Save the file as noise.gif.  Now download this file and upload it to your server and copy and paste the following code into the <head> of your page

Click to copy to clipboard

Now change

<SCRIPT LANGUAGE=JavaScript SRC="http://url/JSFX_FadingRollovers.js" TYPE="text/javascript"></SCRIPT>

To wherever you uploaded the js file.

Change the things in bold

JSFX.Rollover("cam", "http://urltocam");

The url is where you put the url to your ON image, the image you want to appear on mouseover.  The "cam" part is simply the name you want to give it!

Step 2

This is how you add the fading effect, put this where you want your cam, change the parts in bold

<div style="background:url('noise.gif')">
<A HREF="http://url" onMouseOver="JSFX.fadeIn('cam')" onMouseOut="JSFX.fadeOut('cam')">
<img style="border: 1px solid black" class="imgfader" name="cam" src="noise.gif" width="142" height="110"></A></div>

Ok, let me explain, the noise.gif is surprisingly the url to the noise animation, the HREF="http://url" is optional, delete it if you don't want the image to be a link.  the cam bits you put whatever name you put in step 1 [JSFX.Rollover("cam", "http://urltocam"] and the width and height whatever size you want your image to be!

Voila!
