Trendy shapes with patterns PSP tutorial

I really like big bold vector shapes with patterns on, as you can probably tell from my layouts! No body taught me how to do them...I just did it, there may be other ways but this is how I do it, here is an example

Of course yours will have a transparent background.  Ok follow the instructions below

1) Open up paint shop pro and click on new, make the canvas colour transparent and make it as big as you like! Now click on the Preset Shapes tool and make sure that the tool option box is open, if not right click on the menu and click tool options.  Pick your shape and make the settings like below

2) Ok now choose your colours from the colour palette, the top colour is the outline and the bottom one is the fill.  Now draw your shape, like I said before, as big as you like!

3) Open up a new image, I used one of a cross, I made the background pink and the shape white, you can use it if you like, copy and paste it into psp.

Try not to make it too small because it looks silly later on, but it doesn't matter if you do it bigger than you want...you can scale it later.

4) Go back to the window with your shape on, click on the vector arrow and double click on your shape, a window will show up, click on the arrow next to your fill colour and select the pattern fill...see below if your confused

5) Click on the pattern fill box and another window with patterns on will come up, choose your image that you drew before, should be at the top somewhere

You can use the scale tab to get the pattern a size you want, of course the larger the scale the less crosses there will, be in my case.  Now click ok and ok again.  You should have your shape with a cool pattern in now!  You could leave it like that

6) Go to Layers > Duplicate layer.  Then go to Layers > Properties and set the opacity to around 70%.  Then double click on the shape with the vector selection tool  and set the stroke colour to Null (the circle with a line through) and set the fill colour to gradient.

7) Click ok, change the opacity a bit (Layers > Properties) and voila! You can play about a bit with it, this is just a general idea!
